VivoPools Uses

PoolRX, which is an industry approved, effective form of mineral sanitization with the lowest amount of toxic chemicals. It ensures that your pool will be the cleanest, healthiest water you will ever swim in. PoolRX is a unit that uses natural minerals to combat algae and bacteria in your pool water. Using nature itself as an algaecide, the minerals are actually one thousand times more effective in eliminating algae and bacteria, drastically reducing the need for chemicals like chlorine or acid.

Other ways to help "green" your swimming pool include:

Looking out for leaks
An inch-a-day leak in an average pool wastes about 102,000 gallons of water per year. Your VivoPool service technician will check your water level weekly. To do it yourself, mark the water level with a water-resistant pencil, and then look at the mark 24 hours later. If you see a difference of more than 1/4 inch of water, you have a leak! Call your VivoPools service technician as soon as possible to get a repair.

Solar Pool Heating
Using solar energy to heat your pool allows you to keep the water warm with natural, renewable energy that is free of carbon emissions. Manufacturers now offer a variety of solar pool heating systems. Not only will you be helping the environment, but solar heating also helps you save money by cutting down on energy costs. Also, many states and communities are offering tax deductions for the installation of a solar system.

Shocking or Boosting
Ozone is a short-lived natural element that generally gets depleted within 5 minutes of entering the pool. However, it is a highly effect tool in killing unwanted pathogens in the water that come in contact with the ozone gas. Occasionally “shocking” or “boosting” your pool with ozone can help drastically reduce your chlorine and additional chemical requirement.

Pool Covers
Pool covers can help conserve water and heat that would typically be lost as a result of evaporation. Using a pool cover also helps the environment by keeping pool chemicals from polluting the air. In addition, they can offer energy savings by helping to heat your pool, keep out excess debris, and reduce chemical usage. Look into combining your pool cover with solar collectors to keep your pool warm.

Adjusting Pump Speed
Most pumps now come in two, four and variable speed models. You can turn the speed down for regular daily use to help save energy or use higher settings for less frequent cleanings. Also look into installing a timer for both your filter and pump to run them in several short cycles during the day. This can be more effective than keeping them turned on continuously throughout the day.

Harvesting Rainwater
Using rainwater to refill your pool water is a good way to cut down on water costs. In addition rainwater collection systems help reduce stormwater runoff. Stormwater runoff is often contaminated and can cause serious damage to the environment and to your health. Rain barrels are low-technician, inexpensive devices that collect rainwater and can be easily installed in your home.
